WotlK Wowhead Beta Site

BETA SITE

Green quality Idol from a quest...

Idol of the Plainstalker

Basically the Idol of Terror with 10 less agility on proc.

This is a reward about 2 levels into the expansion. This alone speaks volumes as to what our current gear is really worth in the expansion IMHO.

The Good...

People with fresh 70's have no need to run Karazhan, they most likely can just focus on getting to level 80 just like it was when BC released. This will also be great with alt toons that people put very little effort into once they hit 70 because they were spending all their time raiding and getting rep on their main.

The Bad...

The majority of work people put into raiding goes unnoticed since their gear will be replaced quickly into the expansion. Let's hope the new achievements systems address this. I know it is unlikely but I would like to see under achievements not only that I ran and killed every boss in Karazhan but that I cleared the place X amount of times... would be nice for the game to tally that info. I hope it also shows the world boss kills in there somewhere as well. Heck, it might make going back and clearing MC worth while.

Also, even more level 80 toons that have no clue what it is to raid.

Another WotlK beta tidbit... Hurricane has no cooldown! Druid AoE farming low level mats FTW! Barkskin, Hurricane, clear Deadmines... woot! LOL

On a serious note though, I love pulling 5 mans with hurricane and now it will go even faster. As a feral I can also do a weapon swap and maintain 2500DPS AoE while pallies continue to be Uber crowd meat shields.

Another thing that could be bad, they took the threat generation from Feral Instinct. It now increases swipe damage...

Not sure how that is going to pan out unless our threat gets an overall jump elsewhere. Unless I am mistaken the other tank classes have talents to increase threat that wasn't taken away from them... makes me wonder...

Rumor has it we will get it somewhere and that the change is going to help us improve tanking multiple targets.

Not sure but really it is most likely to balance how much more threat we generate already because of our damage. I will pass any other tanking class in threat on a single target whenever I want sooooo...

Yea... I guess it bothered me more because when I was running the T6 content as offtank, I was running in half kara half badge loot, where the other guys I was with was mostly t6 with t5-equivilent and 2.4 badge loot to compensate. So the other tanks were way outgearing me which really made me work to keep my threat high.

As far as gear goes, I was expecting I'd be replacing all my 100s of badges reward gear with greens pretty early on in Wrath. The staff of the forest lord is going to look pretty weak at level 75, I'm sure :)

Still I've had so much fun playing endgame... that's the point of 10 new levels - we're no longer in an endgame context. I suspect a lot of people wont run the old raids either - cant quite see the point.

As for learning how to raid: well, all of us crusty old kara/ssc raiders will be there in Wrath too! Newbies can learn in Wrath. I've never seen Onyx, AQ or Naxx but I dont feel I missed the opportunity to learn vital raiding skills. Its a game after all - dare I say "its easy to learn"?!

Don't be so sure about replacing that staff with a green right away. Looking at weapon loot from quests up to level 73 at least I saw nothing better... but yeah, lets hope come level 75 there is at least a blue from an instance that might replace it.

Supposedly the threat boost from feral instinct got rolled into base threat for bears, similar to a change for warriors.

Warrior's threat boost got taken away too, and a prot paladin's extra threat boost got rolled into the baseline as well.

So far there's nothing close to the Staff of the Forest Lord in terms of goodness, but there are a couple pieces that are right up there with Earthwarden. My suspicion is that if it's level 141, it's going to be fairly close to what you are going to use for a large chunk of Northrend leveling. But not raiding.
