Gearing up for Feral DPS

Ok, here is a post detailing the fastest way to get geared for feral kitty DPS. Whether you are currently a balance or resto druid or a feral tank that ignored getting DPS gear, follow this guide to getting the best possible gear for killing stuff. This should be useful considering pretty soon we will all be in Northrend trying to kill new and exciting mobs. This is for those of you that are not raiding anything past Kara or not raiding at all, obviously there is some better gear that can be had from 25 mans that you might be able to get for your offspec but I am not covering that in this post. I had to bold this last part for the quick to flame trolls that some how missed it (see comments)

Final Tips

Be careful about the neck. The Aldor one is great, but the scryer one is not so hot.

Yeah, I kinda forgot about that... In that case get the Necklace of the Deep which is crafted and drop in 2 pure agility gems.

Just as a "point of wondering"...

How about Earthwarden for the weapon?

It's +700-odd Feral Combat plus Expertise rating - not as good as the top DPS weapons, but better than some of those mentioned...

And Enchanted with Agility it gives a good boost in general Kitty stuff...

@Stobnor

Excellent point! A matter of fact I used EW until I was able to get the S1 Mace for kitty DPS, I had just forgotten. I am going to add it!

i really dont get how you corny bloggers post all this wack ass gear and claim its to be so friggin awesome when you guys clearly have not seen all of the end game content and the phat lewtz that are out there for feral druids bear/kitty you should do more game playing and less game analyzing nub.

Great list!
My experience with the SSO neckpiece: On proc it does an additional 700+ damage to the mob.

I tend to get at least one proc on equla level opponents, sometimes two.

@Anonymous,

Lrn2read you retard, here is part of the beginning of the post since you obviously missed it.

"obviously there is some better gear that can be had from 25 mans that you might be able to get for your offspec but I am not covering that in this post."

Epic Fail on your part.

@Eric

Yes, apparently the math has been broken down on the Scryer's neck and it works out to be decent and about the same dmg as the aldor. However, I hear it's proc can cause some nasty mispulls and such just by targeting a boss and having it proc.

Nice post, Jacemora!

On the scryer neck: they've fixed misprocs on bosses; it only procs when you do damage now, so it works all the time. It's pretty good, especially early on. It also uses the melee crit rate instead of the spell crit rate, which helps cats even more.

From all my math I've found that the two best 2pT4 to go for are the head and shoulders, not head and hands. Especially since there is such a good opportunity to get better hands both in raids and from badges. Still, the important thing is to get 2pT4 as quickly as possible, and that's almost certainly Kara.

@Kalon

Thanks for the post.

Yeah, head and shoulders are the way to go but shoulders means getting to a Gruul's raid and I left out 25 man raids on purpose.

Best way to go through T5 is helm and shoulders with badge hands. T6 is supposedly shoulders and chest or to ditch 2T4 altogether.

Cloak of the craft is a fine option for very little cash (and no gem needed). It rates even higher than the others under the "High Gear Cat DPS" model. (And +hit mostly isn't a bad thing.)

Thanks Keith, yes cloak of the craft is a fine alternative and probably much cheaper. I really did focus on epic gear where I could though.
